Do you know someone who's every penny is going towards medical bills, and they're behind in their household payments…….
Do you know someone who has to see their doctor, but they have no one to take them to their appointment, and they can't afford a taxi….
Are you a parent who can't remember the last time your kids had fun either because they are battling cancer themselves or they are watching mom, dad, or a sibling fighting the battle…..
Are you a survivor who doesn't have the energy to walk from the living room to the bedroom, let alone clean your house…..
This fund would like to help Stage IV cancer survivors and their families. The type of cancer doesn't matter. The only criteria is that they have a genuine need and it is one we can fulfill. Some may ask "Why Stage IV?” Well, Stage IV is the most devastating stage of cancer. Usually most treatments have been tried, and the survivor and doctors are struggling to find any new treatment that MAY work. Many clinical trials are available but most have very specific criteria that the survivor may or may not meet. For some battling the disease, there may be none. These people need some relief in their and their family's daily life. These are the people this fund is trying to help.
Do you know someone who could use maid service for a day, money towards bills, taxis, wigs, food, etc. Do you know a family who needs a night out or a weekend away just to “forget” for a few hours. These are just a few of the ways The Susan L. Reed Fund would like to help the lives of others. The Fund was created in November, 2007, and as a new fund our gifts/grants will start out small, but as we grow, so will, we hope, the scope of our bequests.
We know we can't help everyone, but we will do what we can for those we can.
